The
experiential simulator will convey the experience of dissatisfaction through
expectation. The dissatisfaction of the audience is caused by the alteration or
the dismissals of known narratives that are disturbing. The expectation of a
narrative to be in the correct and conventional sequence will be challenged as
audience will feel overwhelmed, confused and dissatisfied with the outcome.
The
investigation of how expectation of a narrative leads to emotional satisfaction
and how this investigation could be challenged. For example, how one could know
a story so well but they still enjoy reading it over and over again because it
gives the satisfaction but once the story doesn’t continue like it usually is,
the whole experience of the reader changes.
This
experiential simulator contains the jumbling up of sequenced events such as a
well known narrative or a typical sequenced daily routine. The audience reads the sequenced narrative
first then transition into the jumbled up, non sequential narrative.
The experience
the audience would have is firstly, the expectation of a normal narrative.
Secondly, the audience will gradually notice the odd changes in the narrative
until the whole meaning of the narrative changes and completely contradicts
itself. The audience then feels overwhelmed and uncomfortable leading to the
last experience which is dissatisfaction as the narrative is disturbing or not
what is expected.
