Simulator : Operation Vagary Process and Documentation Part 1

The diagram describes how my simulator works and how it was made. The process started by choosing two distant realities which in this case is a library when it's open and when it's closed. These two contexts will coexist in the simulator, therefore constituting to the surrealistic experience. The closed library then being pre recorded and manipulated through a set of sound effects and voice over. In the operation, the participant will be given a set of iPad and an in ear headphone in which they will be watching the pre recorded version of a closed library. The participant will be asked to follow and synchronize his/her movement with the video. The juxtaposition between the pre recorded empty library with the lived 3 dimensional experience will turn the participant into both creator and recipient of a surrealistic experience. Both feeling surreal by watching empty library context superimposed by lived 3 dimensional experience where the library is packed with people and simultaneously contributing to the surrealistic experience to other library users.

This diagram analyzes different ways in which surrealistic experience is created. Through various operations such as scaling, distortion and levitation, objects are being converted to give surrealistic experience to the viewers.

The diagram above shows the juxtaposition between 2 different realities namely a canteen and a library. By putting foreign objects into different context that they don't normally belong to have created a surrealistic experience. The tested objects various from least distant from norm to the most. This is to see how the subtlety in changing an object which is slowing diverting from norm could contribute to the surrealistic experience.
