SIMULATING A FANTASY SURREALISM LANDSCAPE

Simulator 01

This simulator attempts to immerse one in an experience of being underwater, in the water and above the water. The inspiration came from the careful observation of when people "get in" the water and they start doing something out of their normality. Everyone has that feeling as when they were a child or even now people are still behaving the same way every time they get in the water. This experience is being simulated by a giant inflatable ball capable of containing a person maneuvering over a body of water in a small inflatable pool. The experience of being in this capsulated ball on water juggling through while immersively surrounded by 4 walls of underwater projection will drive one right into fantasy surrealist affect.

Simulator 02

Merges the two notion of dream and the perceiver physical state ( i.e. sleeping while he/she is sick or sleeping in a very hot/humid room with no aircon in Bangkok !). With the assumption that a person's dream experience is related to how he/she is physically while sleeping. This experience is being simulated by using a treadmill which will increasingly incline and decline as with matching projection of high key environment which usually associated with having  good dream and low key environment associated with having a bad dream. One would feel trapped and released, joyful and depressed through out this fantasy surrealist labyrinth.

Simulator 03

This simulator is located in the underground tunnel crosswalk of Chulalongkorn University. It's simulating a fictional narrative story telling combined with head mounted projector or 3d goggle projecting what they are hearing to the existing tunnel environment. What they hear sonically will ultimately change the atmosphere and experience of being in the tunnel. This sonic quality is very efficient in describing space and creating ambiguous atmosphere if it is to be experience alone with out other senses. I would like to pursue this sonic experimentation and apply it to create a fantasy surrealism landscape where one would not see anything but only through sonic and role playing the space can be totally different.
